How Often Should You Work Out? Here’s the Real Answer (It’s Not What You Think)
Hi! Me again. One of the most common questions we get asked is "how often should I workout". Well, here you go. The answer you've all been waiting for! Your question finally answered! ...it depends. That's right, it depends. Specifically, it depends on you.
You see, everyone is different. We all have different bodies, different diets, lifestyles, income, and most of all; time. Not every person has the ability to exercise every day of the week, nor is that necessary. Additionally, we all have different goals that, likely, all require different training frequencies (among other things). Generally, I would recommend that people exercise 2-3 days per week. Is this a hard rule that everyone NEEDS to follow? No, but it should be enough to see consistent improvements while also allowing for adequate recovery. That being said, if done properly, there is nothing wrong with training more or even less frequently than 2-3 times per week.
If you are someone who does not exercise regularly, but plan to begin, my advice to you is to not be overly ambitious right away. Many people begin their fitness journey by training 5+ days per week, giving every workout their all. While this is admirable, it is extremely difficult to sustain. Many people give up after only a few weeks, or even days. Remember, we're looking for a "step" in the right direction, not a leap. I would recommend starting with between 1 and 3 workouts per week to begin. If you'd like to increase beyond that, you are welcome to do so, but maybe do it slowly over time so your body can acclimate.
